  3. @17 beats well, duh. you're pregnant in nyc in august??

    ReplyDelete
  4. @Amanda i'm just making you famous. now when ppl see you on 7th Ave in your caftan and they go, "isn't that the caftan from the MAN POLL?" you can say, "I INSPIRED the man poll."

  5. I know he's going to vote hell to the no, but I'll reserve his right to check the box himself later

    (that's what she said?)

  6. per the joe, "not my cup of tea."

    ReplyDelete
  7. I already know the answer to this one: "Hell no. Unless it's see-through."

    ReplyDelete
  8. Which, btw, is unfortunate, because caftans can be so light and lovely to wear.

  9. My guy approves. In his words, "if you MUST wear a dress, this is a nice one, I guess." Keep in mind this is coming from the man who- upon spotting me putting on a bit of mascara before heading out- asked me, "Why are you getting so dressed up??"

His fave is when I dress hippie-ish/boy-ish. Flannel, Carharts, wool-socks, mocs- he loves.

One time, in a fit of I'M-A-WOMAN-DAMMIT, I bought a pair of over-the-knee-leopard-print-boots and he about had a heart attack.

  10. Also, in order for him to vote I had to explain to him the difference between a DRESS and a SKIRT. His response: "Ohhhhh, so, a dress is like a skirt with a shirt!" :P

  11. my man voted Hells Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he was swayed by this line: "Especially with nothing underneath."

    ReplyDelete
  12. joe would like ANY outfit with nothing underneath. isn't that the case for all straight men?

i'll have him vote when he gets home from work tonight.

  13. @Tonia stop. did he grow up in a CAVE??

    ReplyDelete
  14. my guy says yes, but i think he just digs the model

    ReplyDelete
  15. N would like to stipulate that he likes them ONLY if the girl is wearing nothing underneath. Otherwise, he says they're "fugly".

    ReplyDelete
  16. Was told "maybe if you were pregnant and naked".... Otherwise I was told, "what would be good about you draping your body with fabric.... although the naked thing might be nice...."

So, I am chalking that up as a fail.

  17. @esb Northern MN. Which is a cultural cave where only burly Scandinavians are allowed, so.

  18. "I don't care what you wear as long as you're not wearing a bra" - fiance

    ReplyDelete
  19. "sexy. parkish"

    "what? parka-ish?"

"no. sexy at the park. or the beach. yeah. i like it."

    ReplyDelete
  20. Do the lesbians get a say? Because that could sway the vote significantly.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Mara did you not read the footnote?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh dear. I said "I fear your choice is going to be the popular vote" and he said, "Yes. Hell no."

    ReplyDelete
  23. "So is it basically a poncho?"

"Only yes if it's the pregnant, nothing underneath, nice print option"

"Can it stop above the thigh?"

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is what I get for drinking while cooking. Fair assumption.

    ReplyDelete
  25. He said, "No, it looks like a curtain."

    ReplyDelete
  26. Fiance was a big IN. Even with clothes/underthings underneath.

    ReplyDelete
  27. No.

But I like clean, modern, and bold.

The female form should be celebrated and not obscured.

If one must, then perhaps a form fitting long sleeved catsuit underneath to balance out the cut would work. (Think Miu Miu c.2008)

  28. I think bf will be a solid no on this one, even with the naked factor. On another note, how much does it cost EmersonMade to make these one-size caftans? $238 for what is essentially a cotton dress? That seems a bit outrageous to me.

  29. Husband said "uh uh." As in, no. It reminds him of a weird outfit his aunt wore when she was a dancer. He said he might like it in 5 years. (?)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hahahaha, the husband responses are fricken awesome. Let's poll the boys more often (that's what she said?)

    ReplyDelete
  31. ben voted no. but he thinks its cause it applies to caftans in general. if the vote is for the one pictured, he votes yes.

    ReplyDelete
  32. He referenced Mrs. Roper. Thaaaaaat's a no.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @jamie OBVIOUSLY it's for the one pictured.

okay, i guess it wasn't that obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  34. joe says the way you worded this is unfair. he's all about technicalities, my joe.

"that is some lame hippie shit", were his thoughts on the dress itself. he is also so very gifted with words.

    ReplyDelete
  35. my partner said no, he said the model in the picture is making it look more like a dress with how she is standing, but obvi it doesn't look like that in reality, it drapes down like a big bag.

He also said it reminds him of a this big fat singer (male) from the 90s who wore one, which makes it very unsexy.

  36. I don't appreciate being excluded from this poll just because I am penis-less.

My husband doesn't really know what blogs are, so I'll have to tell him about yours. And my blog, too, while we're at it.

But, since I know him so well, he would vote NO and would add, something like: "looks like Grandma's curtains."

I would wear it anyway and tell him to be quiet. (That is, if I could afford it. C'mon. $238? I like you Emersonmade, but ... seriously?!)

P.S. Do we REALLY care what our men think of our clothes? Women dress for other women. Somebody important said that once. I think it was Betsey Johnson. (Yep! It was.) xo.
