Blog of the Week(ish): 3 DOLLARS

I am generally not a fan of cute bloggers who post a kajillion cute photos of themselves in cute outfits. Actually, I kind of enjoy making fun of them.

But. This woman is cool as fuck. (I mean, look how she rocks that thrift-store jacket.)

I keep clicking over to 3 DOLLARS even when I know there are no new posts. That is how much I am digging her blog.

  1. at the risk of being That Guy, that last picture is a little bony.

  3. Sigh. I WANT to like this blog but... in a lot of her posts, she just kind of looks like a homeless person.

  4. Yeah, I definitely agree with some of the comments above mine. Maybe I'm just not hip enough to appreciate it.

  5. You might want to update your blog of the week whatsit up there on the right.

And let's lay off the skinny chick, okay? Some of us can't help it if our skeletons show.

  6. i know, p&p, and i know how that gets to you. surely there's a middle ground between "it's never okay to mention someone's weight (at either end of the spectrum)" and "so it turned out so-and-so was really sick but we were all trying to be polite." i'm not saying i know where it is, but i think we should look for it.

  9. @lauren I know, and I know that it's important not to get to that place where it's never ok to mention someone's weight. And I don't really have a problem with you mentioning that someone is a little bony. I do have a problem with being the person in the picture who is ripped apart by strangers on the internet. Been there and it made me cry. And had I been sick (in the way that you mean) I can't imagine that that would have helped.

But yes, it's hard, and I don't know where the line is either, and I know that you come from a place of caring and concern.

  10. her weight doesn't bother me. it's the spoiled rich girl feel of the blog turned me off. i get that a lot of the pieces are borrowed ... but there's something about her posts just seems icky, self-absorbed, and bratty to me.

maybe i'm just more interested in reading about grown-ups.

what can i say, i'm an asshole.

  11. On second thought.... fuck it, if you like this blog, then good on you! Keep it up, keep reading! Not EVERYTHING is for EVERYONE and what matters here is your opinion.

If people (present company included) aren't into it, they don't fucking have to cleeeeek over!

    Love you!
    xx

  13. I'm with ESB on this one. Girl is bony, yes, but cool none-the-less. AND
she makes Vancouver look like Vancouver, but somehow punk-as-hell. Which is hard to do. Nice to see my 'east side' represented here.

And she's a professional stylist, so I'm not really getting the 'spoiled rich girl' thing. Lady does this for a living.

  14. Also... you kind of have to see the homelessness in Vancouver to get how totally not-homeless she looks. For my money, it's part cultural commentary.

  15. @Anon I *thought* Value Village was a Vancouver thing!

  16. Yes m'am. And the one on Victoria drive is the shit!

  17. oh bridey, bridey, other anonymous is right on the money. That's our Vancouver 'east side.' Victoria Drive is even easter than my Main St. If you come back for a visit I'll take you there. xox
