please allow me to clarify

When I said "mini-cleanse," what I meant was, "I should stay away from bourbon for a few days." Um, and burritos.*

I would never give up food. And I don't even know how to work our juicer.**

*I was in San Francisco for the weekend. Wheat is a migraine trigger for me, and you can't make a burrito without a big flour tortilla. But it's impossible for me to leave SF without eating at least one. This time I had two.

**Basically, I'm the husband in the marriage. I act all bumbling in the kitchen so that H-town is forced to wait on me. Every once in a while I slip up and prepare a meal and he remembers I know how to cook, but usually it works like a charm.

  2. See, I assumed that by "cleanse" you meant vodka and grapefruit juice. What? It's healthy.

  3. Vodka is def one of the "cleansing" alcohols. Can be used as a toner, an odor remover (far superior to Febreze), and certainly as a bourbon detox.

  4. What about bean burritos? Beans are good for you, just forget they have a ton of lard in them.

I couldn't give up Maker's Mark, though Mouse has a very good point...

  5. It's the *wheat* that I really can't eat, sadly. But I'm only off Maker's until the weekend :)

  6. Next time you're in SF, consult BurritoEater.com -- it's hilarious and right-on.

  7. Wow. BurritoEater tells me La Cumbre was "the de rigueur choice in the Mission through the mid-’90s." I left in '91, so maybe I'm just clinging to the past.....

But glad to know Joey Ramone was also a fan: http://tiny.cc/9XLxj

  8. My boyfriend lived in San Francisco for a while and all I heard about was the burritos there! He lived in The Mission and couldn't get enough of them :)

  9. burrito bowl. I know the totally amazing hole-in-the-wall places don't usually make em, but you can get all the fixin's on a plate and save the +200 and the headaches by skipping the tortilla!

  10. Wheat is a migraine trigger for me as well! The smell of those flour tortillas alone gives me a headache. I'm more of a steak torta kind of gal.

  11. Oh my. I just nearly fell off my chair at the 'act all bumbling in the kitchen' bit. I feel like someone's been spying on me.

Besides, men in aprons are hella sexy.
