Still waiting for a bride to rock Helmut Lang.

Will someone PLEASE get married in this ensemble?

In related news, Shopbop is launching a bridal boutique in a couple of weeks. (I know, right? Join the club.)

I have to admit I'm a little bit excited. Expecially after BHLDN turned out to be a big fat meh.

  3. you know what pissed me off about bhldn? every damn blogger lady (not you, clearly) posted a "sneak peek". um... it's not a sneak peek if you've shown us 84,000 times.

  4. @Naurnie yeah, the ppl at BHLDN invited us all over to take a million photos so we could give them free advertising! SNEAKY!

  5. @ESB - Shopbop could benefit from reading your post on Loeffler Randall's "bridal" shoe collection. What's wrong with the regular Shopbop variety? Do brides need a WEDDING BOUTIQUE? No.

@Naurnie - I agree 100%; I'm soooo glad that party is over. Yawn.

  7. Finally! Everyone and their grandmother was obsessing over that damn line, but I was so disappointed. Anthropologie is not god, people! Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was overrated. Thanks as always for keeping it real!

  8. BHLDN was a big big fat MEH. I looked at it for so long and tried to figure out what all the fuss was about.

  9. i thought i was the only one who thought it was big fat meh too. i only thought one dress was POSSIBLY worth buying and it wasn't even a bridal gown!

  11. I left negative BHLDN comments all over the blogosphere.

  12. I think Anthropologie is the antithesis of what it tries to represent!... I mean DIY, artsy meets super commercialized, low quality.

BOO anthro!!! That place is so overrated and not in the least bit original. ALTHOUGH, admittedly I love their store fronts on occasion.

  13. am i the only one who feels like an asshole for never figuring out what BHLDN even stands for? not that i put that much time into it, but still.

  14. @Celia "beholden" is what they're going for. and no, you're not an asshole. it's a REALLY bad name.

  15. bad name, waaaaay too expensive, and not that great or new.
i kinda felt like it was a let down.

and i agree with elle, i usually just wander through an anthro to look at their displays

  16. I liked the dresses. STPD name though.

(see what I did there? Clever, huh?)

  17. i think my beef is with the word itself: "beholden" references the very sort of obligations and transactions most of us find squicky about marriage down the ages. go big or go home with the middle english, anthropologie! let's hipster-shorten "indentured" ("work your way out of debt!")!

  18. if they don't want "work your way out of debt" as a subtagline, i might.

  19. I have to chime in and say the BHLDN has got to be the worst name for a store/biz/anything EVER. I had no idea what it meant or how to say it, and I thought it was an acronym for something for like three weeks until I finally went to their Twitter account and saw that like every other tweet for the past two weeks was them explaining to someone that the name was pronounced "beholden" and means "to keep". They basically have a Twitter account to explain their name.

And their shit is too expensive for what it is. And that goes for Anthro too. I have had a $100 gift cert to Anthro sitting on my desk since Xmas and I haven't spent it yet because $100 doesn't get me anything I want! Ba humbug!!! Thanks for not falling for that crap, esb.

  20. BHLDN isn't a name, it's a cheesy vanity license plate.

  21. you just have FANTASTIC style, esb.

  22. What just happened to me:

    What the fuck is BHLDN?

Ohhhh, anthropologie's bridal line. How did I miss the release? Oh yeah, I only read ESB and no other wedding site.

It looks like regular anthropologie with even higher prices. And what the fuck is this name, B-H-L-D-N?

Wait-WHAT THE FUCK? BEHOLDEN? Vomits on keyboard.

And this from ME, the rare someone on this site who doesn't even hate anthropologie. And I used to work there and everything.

Beholden. You've got to be fucking kidding me. The bridesmaid dresses didn't offend me (they just look like regular anthropologie), but 90% of the bridal line is straight up FUG. *Beholden*. Good lord.
