What the f* do I read at my wedding?

Amanda is doing a words to read at your wedding series for A Practical Wedding, and the first installment is up today.

I love her choices because they are unexpected. And personal.

That's what I find moving in a wedding ceremony. If it gets too flowery I tune out.

p.s. Please don't think I'm not paying attention to the inaug today (for example, George HW Bush's fur hat). I so am. But you all are so far ahead expressing the joy, I'm happy to soak it all in.

  1. Hee. Fur hats ARE everywhere. What are we going to DO?!

  2. Yay! I feel the same way. And some of the texts I love the most are still to come.

But, if we are taking about hats, we need to be talking about Aretha's. That was a hat making a big statement about joy. BIG.

  3. ALL RIGHT Aretha!

GHWB's statement was more like, "Yeah, I killed this."

  4. What about GHWB and Barbara's matching purple scarves? I am all about bipartisanship, but the bad mouse in me wants to just say "oh, sure, NOW you want purple."

  5. Hilarious!

And I totally agree that you can't get all sappy up in there. It makes everyone either gush (which is weird) or it makes them (me) uncomfortable and slightly nauseous.
