Sooooooooooooo............

The Yigal Azrouël won the oscar-worthy frocks vote.

But. Being as how our girl TOLD US going without a bra is not an option....

I sought an expert opinion.

Linda the Bra Lady* says: That dress is gorgeous. But does require a stick on kind of thing. OR a sexy bustier that you don't mind showing. (Which, no. Not for this dress. Not for the OSCARS.)

Truth is: stick on bras will NEVER give the same support as a bra with a back and straps.

Uh. YEAH.

The Yigal is clearly made for a) a perky-as-hell 19-year-old or b) bionic-boobed Naurnie, who loves to run around with no bra on.

Oh well.

First and second runner up are the Aidon Mattox and the (dowdy) Max & Cleo.

The dress I voted for came in dead last.

  1. I so envy those who can run around braless.

  2. I, for one, am dying to know what Oscar Lady is leaning toward. Did any make the cut for her? Has she found something else? Inquiring minds, and all.

  3. The Max & Cleo is the only dress that actually meets the bra requirement and considering ESB thinks it's dowdy... I think we failed.

  4. @Anon C'MON she can wear a low-backed bra, can't she?? THEY'RE NOT L-CUPS.

  5. I voted for the Theory dress too. I liked the Aidan Mattox too but it's way outside her budget.

  6. What about a sexy solid black satin bustier that looks like it's part of the dress?

  7. The TT dress is hot. IDK what's wrong with the readers this round.

    *tucks breasts into bra*

  8. The TT dress *is* hot but, speaking as large busted lady myself, a neckline that high can be fairly unforgiving. The Max and Cleo dress, while perhaps dowdy and, worse, PURPLE, does have a much more appropriate neckline for big bossoms.

As for this dress, and a solution for it, I'm not sure. I have a feeling that she could spend the night feeling as though she's falling out of most strapless/stick on options, but it's lovely and a great colour for a redhead, so I really hope something works!

  9. Hey, look at it this way; getting to run around in a dress like this is overdue compensation for those of us who were taunted for being flat-chested all the way through middle and high school.

  10. Being gusty brought it's own round of taunts! I still remember the day my bra bust open under my jumper on the bus. Front clasp! *shakes fist*

  11. Hello - oscar girl here. Inneresting results... I have to say I'm really not a fan of the Max & Cleo number, I worry it would make me look like a giant purple Quality Street (that reference probably only works if you're English.) But the green is pretty awesome - I think maybe worth a bit of experimenting with, to see if I can overcome the no-bra issue. And no, it's not like I'm a J cup, more of a DD.

But after those recommendations, I checked out renttherunway.com, and I'm leaning towards this:

    Thoughts??

  12. Hmm. Sorry my little hyperlink attempt really didn't work there...

  13. That David Meister gown is gorg! And it totally solves your bra issue. Thumbs up!

  14. I think the RTR dress is pretty awesome, though I'm borderline unsure about how the knit is going to look. It looks slightly chenille-y to me.

  15. I think both of those dresses will give you a fupa, but this black lace corset might help.

  16. Hey oscar girl. The only concern with the David Meister is the seam below the bust. If you want that to sit below your boobs then you will have a lot of cleavage, otherwise it will sit higher on your breasts and you could end up with four of them. You know what I mean? But i think you should just go for it.
