I'm thinking I ought to print this out and leave it on H's keyboard to find when he wakes up.

He's back on his weirdo work til 6am sleep til 1pm sched, while I am diligently trying to get to bed by 11 or 12 so I can be sitting at my computer, coffee in hand, by 9am. Needless to say, there's not a lot of overlap, you know, in bed. Our quality time is spent eating dinner together and watching cable! glorious cable!

Actually, I should probably rewrite the note so it reads: "HOW ABOUT: TODAY WE MAKE OUT."

Via Duskin, who not only makes terrific pants, but also has an eye for the hilarious

  1. yep. when you work opposite schedules, as joe and i have for years, you've just got to do it this way. it's oh so romantic.

p.s. i'm feeling funny not double spacing.

  2. I hear ya sister. My husband works crazy graveyard shifts and I work normal office hours so I usually see him for about 30 minutes when I get home from work. We don't even get to eat meals together because my dinner time is his breakfast time. Booooo!

The note thing is an excellent idea!

  3. I hate it when we end up on totally different sleeping schedules.

Oh, and we totally decided to justify the cable expense by thinking of it as together time.

isaiah and i have both been on the we-forgot-we-graduated-and-aren't-actually-on-winter-break-going-to-bed-at-6am-schedule....sleepin' the day away is bad for morale, man.

  6. Um, you just 100% described my life right now (G. is currently working night shifts that end at 7am). Not enough makeout time indeed. It makes me a bit...crazy.

  8. Dude, I feel like I'm going to be stoned every time I even touch P's *ARM* in public in Rajasthan, let alone kiss him. Now you've given me inspiration to do a performance piece in the middle of bustling Old City in Jaipur wherein P. and I make out whilst sporting a burqa.

Oh wait, is that not PC? How about if it's a sparkly sequined burqa, and he wears a loin cloth? Better? No?

  9. Totally used to have a shirt that said "Make-Out Bandit." It was my favorite. It happens, ESB, and it sucks. I read in Cosmo that scheduling sex is supposed to be a turn-on, and if it was in Cosmo, it's obv. true. Right?

  10. I should do that for my husband sometime as well. We also have opposite schedules. However, we try to have some "cuddle time" before I go to bed each night. The dog usually joins us, and we've dubbed it "family time" (lol). The dog LOVES it and usually starts begging for it at about 7pm.

However, he does not like it when we shut him out of the room to engage in other activities.

  11. Yep, me too. For the past eighteen months my husband has been working the exact opposite hours to me We got married 3 months ago. It feels bad.

BUT, very good excuse to spend the WHOLE of Saturdays in bed.
