welcome to my summer wardrobe

I've been obsessing about this dress for months, so when I went over to the Alexander Wang site to visit it on Monday and I noticed that the stock was dwindling, I decided to just fucking bite the bullet already and order it (in black, obv). I'm calling it an early birthday present to myself.

Last summer I sweltered, desperately scouring ebay for the perfect t-shirt dress that I never found. Sometimes it's worth paying full price to get exactly what you're looking for. And I am gonna wear this baby every day. With flip flops. With wedges. With my new docs.

Available in grey and black at Alexander Wang (sizes limited), in white at Oak, and in black at Creatures of Comfort.*

*If I may put in a word for the ladies of Creatures of Comfort... Yesterday cevd and I went into the store on Melrose and I tried on the dress (which is even better than I'd hoped) just to be sure I ordered the right size from AW. I obsessed. I made them pull sizes out of the back. They even looked up AW's return policy for me before I decided the dress I ordered was the right size after all and didn't buy anything from them. They could not have been cooler.

  4. I am with you!
My favorite summer piece (for 2 years now) is a black t-shirt dress.
i love it so much that i wish i would have 3 of them and never have to wear anything else. (ok that would be soooooo boring!)

its just so comfy , so simple and so hot looking.

go for it! and enjoy summer!

  5. My grandpa always used to say "it's only a good deal if you get exactly what you wanted". I try to remember that every time I see something perfect but don't want to pay full price. Because of course it never goes on sale in your size and color does it? No. Glad you bought it, very cute and I'm sure you will enjoy it all season long!!

  8. all this summer talk is getting me restless.

i bought my perfect black t shirt dress a couple years ago. i got panicky last year and bought another one "just in case*". hee hee.

    *it sets on fire
    *gets ripped off my body
*i bleach it while cleaning (dumb, for so many reasons)
*i can't ever find another for the rest of eternity (also dumb)

  9. @17 shopping in multiples is NEVER a bad idea.

  10. @jezebel just fyi -- the steamed xs they had on the hanger fit almost the same as the unsteamed small they brought out of the back... as I am a handwasher rather than a drycleaner (things last so much longer that way, I dunno why anyone dry cleans anything other than a tweed jacket, really), and I certainly have no plans to *iron* the thing, I decided to go with the bigger size.

  13. Thanks, ESB! I, too, do the handwash. Even splurged on some fancy Tocca delicate wash to do so.

  14. esb! i have been lusting after this dress for summer. what is the transparency factor on the fabric? could you see through it to your undies? i can't handle layering in the summertime. too lazy...

  15. @Afton black dress works with black bra and nude or black panties. you def don't need a slip. but the fabric is clingy, so thick cotton panties don't work, they need to be pretty form-fitting. I tried on the grey one, and it's pretty sheer. you'd def have to wear nude panties with that one.

but may I just say the dress is RAD. it's already a staple. (threw it on with jeans and my new old docs when it rained yesterday.)
