And damn you, Garance

Now I need to go bra shopping.

I've been wearing the same two Target bras (one black, one grey) I bought a year ago. They've held up incredibly well. But let's face it, I could sex it up a little in the lingerie department.

Anybody have a favorite (discount) place to shop for bras in LA? I've learned the hard way that ebay just doesn't work. Even if you think you know exactly what you're getting, you have to try that sh*t on.

  1. Not only does eBay not work, in my experience, the whole bra shopping thing works best when you find one of those older ladies who has been doing this her whole life and then she show you how to lean over and gently lower the items in question into the brassiere for the best fit...

  2. Calvin Klein, girlie. Affordable and sassy and heaps of styles.(But first go to a fancy boutique for remembering how bras that fit are supposed to fit, even if they do make you lower in your those.)

    Done and done.

  4. confession: i always find good stuff at loehmann's on la c. if i make myself ONLY buy my size (maybe this will fit... not it will not!) i end up with good stuff from there. and finding out my real size from the ladies at nordstrom was indispensable.

  5. perf! those nordstrom ladies really do know their stuff, don't they? I wore the wrong size for years until I wandered in.

  7. yeah, but if you don't wanna drive all the way to the *west side* you gotta check out panty raid on glendale & picket fences on larchmont...not exactly discount, but i always find a good staple bra {or 2} there...

    stay east side, yo.

  9. I really love figleaves.com... I've gotten so many incredible pieces at great prices... and they have really great customer service so if at first you don't succeed in terms of size, it's really easy to do exchanges and returns. My favorite brands are Huit, Chantelle, Princesse Tam-Tam, Pussy Glamore, and Lejaby.

Also, I second Jo's vote for Gap Body... simple but lovely, and so comfortable.

  10. My favourite bras come from Intermissimi. I first found them in Italy but there is now a few in London too. Not sure if you have them in the States though.

Bras are reasonably cheap but good quality and wash well.

My sister-in-law recommended the pants/knickers in Gap. Never tried them or the bras myself though.
