krafty picnic wedding

Check out Michelle & Noah's picnic wedding on The Bride's Cafe here and here. I'm especially obsessed with these details -- blankets Michelle and her sister made, disposable cups prettified with kraft paper (I am now a complete sucker for kraft paper) and wooden forks bought on ebay.

The invites are also super cool, although the reply card inside a little paper bag may have crossed the cutesy line.

I'm heading straight to ebay to look for the forks. (Um, as soon as I address our invites.)

I had been dying to order these customized wooden utensils for our rehearsal picnic-on-the-beach ever since I saw them on Brooklyn Bride. But they're not cheap. I think Kathryn put 'em in her fabulous beach cookout post on {frolic!} today just to torment me....

  1. This is so gorgeous, the wedding I wanted a year ago! I'm a bit upset by the disposable plastic cups though, not very eco-friendly.

I would love one of those blankets!

Honestly, I prefer the wooden forks plain. putting your name on them is a bit, well, monogrammy!

  2. And the whole thing under $10K for 100 people... I posted on it too, but not as good pictures :)

  3. Monogrammy!! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

I love the look of kraft paper - always have. There's something so warm and natural about it.

Tracy is a friend from Nashville - not mean, just been there & done that (unfortunately with a big jerk!) She says it all with love...

  5. You're right, peonies. The branded wedding thing is getting out of control.

  6. As an alternative to the monongrammed wooden utensils, I found these: http://www.greenfeet.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=6010-00656-0000
It's ~$8 per set of 24 (8 forks, 8 spoons, 8 knifes), which works out to 33 cents per item.

I don't *love* that they're disposable, but at least they're biodegradable, compostable and pretty to boot.

  7. Thanks Rebecca! We just ordered these: http://aspenware.ca/index.php

$4/doz for forks. We're getting married in BC, so it felt good to buy local!

  8. Yay! I'm glad you found friendly forks (and that you didn't go all monogrammy on me!)

  9. Actually, they do have a monogram - WUN, which stands for "wooden utensils naturally." I decided not to obsess about it :P

  10. The company's monogram is fine! Especially when it promotes and eco-friendly company. Just keep away from having your name printed on things, it's so not cool!

  11. Occasionally, I lose my mind. And that is when I count on you, Peonies, to step in.

I decided to wait on the parasols. (H-town had a little meltdown about the stuff stuff stuff. I don't blame him.)

When we get to the site, I'll plunk myself down at 4 o'clock and see how bright/hot it really is. There will be time for an emergency trip to Chinatown in Vancouver.

  12. It's ok, I lose my mind too - 'straws, we need wedding straws! And cupcake boxes' is a good example. The Boy responded with a pretty similar 'we don't need more stuff' reaction to H-town's.

Waiting on the parasols is a good idea. You might not need them at all. In the meantime you could by yourself a pretty one, that might scratch the itch! I bought this one a few weeks ago (the pink azaleas and birds one). God knows how I'm going to carry it, plus a bouquet, plus a glass of champagne plus the silly handbag. I need more arms. But I like it!

  13. Funny, I don't picture me with a parasol... But I do need a fabulous bag. OMG so much to do.

  14. Call me crazy, but I can't get the paper around the cups. Is there a secret template?
