F* the royal wedding

boring boring boring boring boring boring boring.

i thought the LEAD UP was bad, but if the recaps are gonna go ALL WEEKEND i might just crawl back into my hole.

at least i've finally stopped receiving press releases about How to Throw a Royal Wedding Party and Royal Wedding Worthy Hair and What to Wear to the Royal Wedding.*

  2. I agree about the lead-up - I saw a $12 magazine yesterday about the Royal Wedding and wondered who the hell is going to buy it, the wedding hadn't even happened yet, what is IN THIS MAGAZINE?

However, while I did not wake up at 3am to watch, I will confess that I was interested in photos the dress (which was very pretty, btw).

PS Prince William is not as cute as he was when I was 12.

  4. @Nikki No, but Harry makes up for it. Cute gingers FTW.

  5. While nothing could have been worth the pre-wedding media ridiculousness, I have to say Pippa knocked it out of the park with that white Lady in Waiting getup. Made it worthwhile to me.

  6. Seriously... I was unimpressed with her bridal look. B-O-R-I-N-G. Pippa did look hot, on the other hand.

  7. All my friends have gone batty, and it is such a relief that I'm not the only one who is thinking this!

  8. i was most definitely up early watchin' it live. i can't lie. and i do love her dress.. since she was going for that grace kelly look and it's alexander mcqueen... at a royal wedding! damn. xx

  9. Everyone loves Pippa! I'm pretty sure my mom used to make me wear the same outfit at Easter in like 1997. Complete with half-up/half-down 'do.

    I'm not feeling it.

  10. @Maddie - your mom made you wear cowlneck floor length crepe gowns with a sweep train on Easter? DAMN. I want your mom.

  11. between the earthquakes and nuclear meltdowns in Japan, the 3 wars our country is in, the deadly storms that just rocked the south, and all the other sadness in the world, i thought it was pretty groovy to get up at five, eat some pop tarts, and watch two college sweethearts tie the knot. it's nice to see a little romance in times like these.

a relatively 'normal' girl became a princess today, and she looked beautiful doing it. not to mention the fact that they both looked so tremendously happy. HOORAY !

    haters go on hatin'.

  12. i should add that we don't have a TV, so i have managed to avoid all the pre-wedding build-up. and will likely dodge all of the post-wedding wrap up. except, of course, indulging in THESE ! http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2011/04/the_royal_wedding.html

  14. I actually thought it was last Friday, and I was at the gym in the morning and sort of surprised that none of the news stations were covering it. Took me all day to realize it was still a week away.

BUT ... after all that hype, you know I clicked over to see what her dress ended up looking like. Pretty.

  15. but but but but BUT THE DRESS! :p no, actually i agree, i'm way over it. and heeeeeell no i would not stay up until 3 am for that. for other things, certainly, but not that.

  16. I hated the hype but I still watched it - it was friday night here in Australia and the wedding was at 8pm, the perfect time for champagne and cheese board imo. <3 the dress btw.

  18. This is why I read your blog! Thank you for affirming me - I felt like a freak of nature as the ultimate anti-wedding bride, until I found your blog. I hate how weddings are supposed to bring out some sort of inner-princess in the bride, a sentiment that gets perpetuated constantly by the wedding industry and then rises to a fever during royal weddings when someone actually becomes a princess by getting married. Thank you for providing a different perspective.

  20. @17beats. Thank you. I completely, utterly agree.

  21. I think the thing that sucks about it, is how completely normal they are. They aren't batty royal people with dark histories or scandals. They're like...king and queen of the nicest fraternity and sorority on campus. And they have a totally sane courtship. I feel that if you are going to inherit a THRONE, you really have a responsibility to bring enough crazy to amuse me.

So all I'll say is thank god Kate brought back sleeves. Sleeves! I was starting to think there was some sort of sleeveless agenda.

  22. they're adorable and she's a princess and blah blah blah....but fuck the hooplah.

  23. i completely agree! i have been avoiding the tv since thursday night! lol. i thought kate looked beautiful in her dress but i expected more. pippa's dress was lovely, however, she looked almost orange to me. i still can't understand the tanning part. i'm asian and my people (or most) try their hardest to stay pasty. anyway, news about it has now been overshadowed by bin laden.
