I am considering something radical.

What if I just don't buy new shoes this summer?

I'm taking my favorite favorite favorite cork-y wedges in for a little refurbishment, and my everyday Havaianas are still going strong. We all know Havaianas go with everything. What's a blister or two between friends?

Okay, I did just buy a jammin pair of Sauconys on ebay that are the exact color of a tennis ball. Not only are they motivating me to RUN goddammit, they scored me several compliments on set this weekend. It's v. important to be stylish when standing around eating potato chips until 4am.

  2. I ♥ Sauconys.

The thing is, and I never thought I'd say this, but I AM SO FUCKING TIRED OF SHOE SHOPPING.

  3. I'm all for not buying stuff you don't need. But it is one of those freaky laws of nature that as soon as you declare you are not buying any new shoes this summer your current summer shoes will disintegrate. And by the time they do the damn stores will have moved on to fall/winter stuff and you will be SOL. So maybe get one pair and keep in the back of your closet as a little insurance policy?

  5. i'm in your camp, but in a slightly different way.

i have bought bought bought with reckless abandon for the past 4 years ... if i get one more pair of sandals, my closet will implode.

i need a new M.O : buy as little as possible, and wear it as much as possible. i've been trying to adopt this for years... maybe this will be my season for success.

  6. i'm still rooting for you to get in some rainbows.

after 23 years of only rainbows, i broke & got these reefs last week... the thinner strap made me look like a girl for once

  7. kiwi scored me some havaianas on gilt (my first pair) and they haven't left my feet since.

i was planning on taking them with us to thailand in june but they would be my main every day shoes... and we do a lot of walking. just how bad are these blisters you speak of?

  8. that girl is wearing leggings as pants. just sayin.

  9. @iheartk I wouldn't recommend em for "a lot of walking," especially if it's humid. you'll rub a raw patch pretty quick.

    @celia YOU GET A COOKIE!!!

  10. I have a love hate relationship with shoe trends (as in the ones I can actually afford). I was in hate for about 3 years, and just got to love. If this means that you won't be posting shoes (like every other blog I read) that I IMMEDIATELY want to buy, I'm cool with that. But I suppose that's selfish...

  11. I have been wearing the same sandals for 5 years now. They're gold and shiny. What more could one want!

  12. Pant-leggings! Eek!

(The perfect shoes should find *you* now you've given up.)

  14. Good call on the Sauconys. I've come to realize that cute workout clothes and shoes are pretty much my biggest motivator.

  15. Havaianas DO go with everything. Like the pajamas I probably won't change out of today.

@iheartkiwi I wouldn't necessarily recommend wearing your Havaianas everywhere in Thailand, either, if you aren't used to wearing them. I rarely wear any other type of shoe (which is sad, because I have some pretty kickass shoes), so mine haven't caused blisters in ages. The last time I remember getting blisters from them was a few years ago at ACL Fest for 3 days in the 100+ degree super-humid Texas heat. But you should definitely wear them to the beach.

  17. I just glued my sandals from last year...
And I wouldn't be able to get any rad new summer shoes this year:
    Moving turned out pretty expensive!

  18. If you don't need new shoes, don't buy them. Cobblers do wonders!!

I have those same Sauconys for running but in grey. Not as exciting.

  19. Shhhhh. I'm trying to convince myself, too. I totally got new summer shoes. But I also have a stack to take in that just need a new heel or little fix to be good as new.
