Do you ever...
put on your wedding dress again?
Just for yourself alone at home?

Just querying.

*****

F*ck the dress. I have really been neglecting my wedding shoes. Gotta find an excuse to wear those again.

(Another one by Lillian and Leonard. Because it's such a good follow. And because their brank spankin new website is up today.)

  1. haah i had a question like that from a journalist a little while ago. i think my response was 'erm..no because that would be very very weird'

  2. I came across mine the other day while packing and I was kind of inclined to. I haven't yet but I just might.
My (more than slightly eccentric) aunt put hers on almost once a month for some time after their wedding. She got super giddy and glowy. Of course, that could have been all the wine we had with dinner too...

  3. uh, no.

  4. no, because it's at my mom's house in california - and because it's too big.

i wear the denim motorcycle jacket i wore over my wedding dress all the time, though. it's still my favorite.

  5. no. i never got it cleaned. who knew walking around in grass and mud would do yucky things to white satin.

  6. I definitely would. I haven't, but I plan to. Actually, I'm planning to spiff it up with a black bolero and black feathers for the hair and wear it to SF's Black and White ball in the spring. I mean, why NOT? It's a party dress, after all, and it looks like it. People used to only have wedding dresses they could re-wear, which I think is kind of awesome.

As for the shoes, well, they are (still) in heavy rotation. Just with much happier memories.

  7. That was one of my favourite pictures from that wedding.

Also, totally agree about the wedding shoes. I've had no occasion to wear mine since, and now I feel like I should just put them on for the hell of it.

  8. I plan on it. I bought a nontraditionsl off the rack dress for the purpose of possibly/definitely wearing it again. I am with Meg on the shoes. I may wear one of my own so they should have heavy rotation.

  9. I haven't. I'm still figuring out what the hell to do with it. My current favorite idea is to hem it into a beautiful cocktail dress.

However, I wear my wedding shoes (red patent pleather mary jane pumps) at least once a week. :)

  11. I for one am never wearing my shoes again. They were cheap shiny ones from a store in chinatown. $25. Awesome until I took my left shoe off that night and realised my big toe nail was sliced in half (no wonder my foot hurt so much).

The dress I will wear again, out. If I don't wear the crinoline, its actually not that formal.

But sometimes I do just want to put it on and sit on the couch. And Kat (aka Rocknollbride) I do realise that that is very very weird.

  12. @Brigitta
I don't think that's weird at all. Why wouldn't you wanna? I don't think my husband would even blink.

  13. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

But I have worn my wedding shoes since, and I still totally love them. Go shoes.

Oh wait, what I also have done is detach the fabric flowers that were sewn onto my dress (they were initially brooches) and worn those as accessories on other outfits. Like a wedding dress McGuyver. (How do you spell that?)

  14. @Meg I just think it's just a little odd to dress up and do nothing. But don't worry, thinking it's weird wont stop me from doing it. Ha.

  15. i sold my dress, but have kept the bolero and wear it while sitting at my computer about once a week. also i've re-worn my shoes, which aren't nearly as wonderful as yours. why the fuck haven't you worn them since?

  16. i designed mine and had it made and it's still my most favorite thing from the wedding which was in june 2006, so yes, i do it. i've done it about 3 times. so that's an average of about once per year. i'll probably do it again. that's not too crazy. but this might be: i take self-portraits in it when i put it on. but i'm a photographer, so i guess that's not TOO weird... or maybe it is. whatevs. i'm totally in love with that thing.

  17. I haven't tried the dress on again, I agree that it would be weird. I mean that *I* would feel weird, who gives a shit if anyone else things it's odd?

I've worn my shoes a couple of times since though.

(@eastside, your shoes are more of a summer kind of a footwear aren't they? You need to be getting them out this summer.)

  18. I haven't.. yet. But I am totally a dress up box kinda girl at heart. My niece is BUSTING for me to put on the dress and play tea party with her. Just might have to indulge us both one of these days.

  19. Well, I do. Because like Featherlove I designed it. Because like Mrs T I kind of like to dress up. And because I'm having fun at thinking different manners I could have worn it (hair down, with a flower and colored shoes...).
And I realize I'm weird. Definitly need that "trash the dress" photo session I think.
