Have a wedding caftan!
Yards + yards of.... mid-weight satiny draped poly.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Current eBay bid is $38. You've got one day + one hour left to make it your own.
Via Memoirs of a Disco Queen, with special thanks to Amy for the heads-up!

So, I finally watched Beginners....
Which I liked. Did not love.
The acting was terrific, I just got annoyed by all the voice-over-y, photo-collage-y stuff. It felt like a cop out.
What I did love was the Indian cotton caftan that the mom wears in one of the art gallery scenes. Kicking myself for not taking a screengrab from the dvd, but it looked something like this.....
I probably don't need a second caftan, especially since I still haven't worked up the nerve to wear the first one.
Right?

I WANNABE USCHI
i love the golden rolling stones era and would like to go for a look a la anita pallenberg [image 1], bianca jagger, uschi obermaier [image 2] with a modern twist. in reality, I have no clue where to look. I don't seem to be able to find something I like.
maybe genius esb or her adorable readers have some ideas ?
I attached some photos. I am a medium size if that matters, like my legs and decollete - my waist not so much, have blonde wavy hair. we're going to elope (with family) and surprise our friends with an invitation to a wild party afterwards.
THANK YOU <3
Wannabe-Uschi ;)
PS, feel free to correct my bad english

Here's hoping you are SMOKING HOT, my dear wannabe.* That is going to be the key ingredient.
A few ideas for dresses
Clockwise: Vintage Josefina Gauze Gown, Lover Ivory Wiccan Dress (also avail here), Vintage 70s Halson, Erin Fetherston Wrap Dress.
Two of these were reader suggestions over here -- you might want to check out all the comments.

coupla more modest bridesmaid ideas
(another rad new sponsor! WOOT!)
I'm sort of enjoying the 90's-meets-Little-House-on-the-Prairie floral dress moment we're having right now.
Fishtail braids required.

Vintage wedding dresses for the Big-Boobed
Did you think #BOOBSWEEK was over??
Not by a long shot.
Yesterday I emailed Mill Crest Vintage, another one of my new sponsors,* to find out what they've got for ladies DD+. The 1980's Grecian Gown, 1940's Silk Crepe and Lace, 1960's Pearl Encrusted Jacquard, and 1960's Fred Perlberg Crochet (pictured above) are just a few of their boobalicious options.
And my lady at Mill Crest told me, "one of the best things to note about vintage is that nearly every piece can be altered to achieve a customized fit. So... If a bride falls in love with a dress, even if it isn't the perfect size right now, doesn't mean that it can't be changed up a bit... (change the back, add gussets, add panels..) Yep... Dresses can be made larger! Who knew!"

Shopbop vs. Etsy
Excuse my excitement but, have you seen this dress!!??!?!?!!!!!??!!!
How perfect would this be for a wedding inspired by The Great Gatsby and the like. And at only $640? It's like a unicorn!
cheers
*****
that is not a gatsby wedding gown.
THIS is a gatsby wedding gown.
now don't ever link me to a $640 dress that is 89% NYLON again, mkay?

Dear ESB: The Podcast
I went on a Savage Love bender this weekend and decided it's time for me to do a podcast. (Dan Savage = My Hero.)
I'm lucky to have a husb who knows a little something about stuff like OH, AUDIO ENGINEERING, so when I announce things like, "I just registered the goog voice # for my podcast!" instead of saying "Um. What?" he spends 45 minutes finding just the right robot voice for the outgoing message.
Anyhoo.

1999, who knew??
I thought you might enjoy a few more images from Arthur Elgort's 1999 Vogue shoot that inspired this bride.
Pointy-toed pumps are happening again right now.
Which leads me to wonder... Would these Zara booties be too much with the Chanel knockoff? Er, HOMAGE.
