I really want to like this Mara Hoffman....

It's $312. It's 100% cotton.

And yet.... Is that weird upper-stomach region really a place that anyone wants to show off?

  1. I think it gives her a weird proportion - shortens her torso.

  2. I like the back. The front, not so much.

  3. I think if the dress actually sat higher up, and the cups provided support/coverage instead of just kind of hanging at the bottom of her boobs, the cutouts would be more "middle rib cage" than "awkward upper stomach", and would be more appealing.

But as-is? Nope. Do not want.

    1. If there was better support the cut-outs wouldn't be buckling either.

  4. I'm concerned that the only brides who could pull this off have not yet reached the age of consent.

  5. I call it the ribcage and I say yes. And I'm so far beyond the age of consent I'm looking back around.

  6. I don't know how this would work :S Usually boning and a tight fit around the ribs is how strapless dresses hold themselves up. I'd pass.

  7. You can only wear this dress if you have no boobs and do not move.

  8. If this doesn't fit the model correctly, and it doesn't, how are 'regular' people going to look in it? It's not good.

  9. When trying on gowns I tried one that had a see-through panel that went down my stomach and a little under my boobs. I'm not usually uncomfortable with stuff like that but it was definitely weird.

I love the back of that dress though.

  10. I hate that style of cups more than I hate the skin strip. Why does anyone want to look like they're wearing a bra on top of their clothes?

  11. i love it! i feel like it would be possible to get it altered to sit up higher to avoid the whole droopy boobs thing, right? (ps i know absolutely nothing about alterations, by the way.)

  12. the cups are for the less boobfortunate, no bra could be worn with that. but i love the cutout, i think the upper stomach is always more flattering than a gut hanging out
