Don't knock it...long before the likes of anthropologie, et al, J. Peterman was the original source for all things "vintage-inspired". I fondly remember that my prom dress (circa late 90s) was essentially a long creamy silk J. Peterman nightgown.
I always forget about J. Peterman! It's so fun to dig through all the really extravagant one offs. Absinthe Sugar Bowl and Saucer? If only! Time to spread the word so that people don't associate it with Seinfeld anymore.
It's like Vermont Country Store meets Audrey Hepburn.
ReplyDeleteNewly obsessed. Thanks!
what? oh, sorry, i was distracted by their vintage wine accessories. (!!!!)
ReplyDeleteYeah distracted by this amongst other things
ReplyDeleteThe picture makes me think of the three fairies in Sleeping Beauty (bippity boppity boo!).
ReplyDeleteOh, well the song is from Cinderella. But still, you know the fairies.
DeleteOMG. I refer to my mother (the Utah wedding mother in question), aunt, and godmother as the Three Good Fairies.
Delete(They will not be dressing alike for the wedding. I don't think. But I will be suggesting this one to Mom.)
I recently received a J. Peterman catalog and thought it was a Seinfeld gag gift.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I thought the illustrations were really nice but also thought, What the hell is this?
DeleteBut seriously, how can we be sure the actually clothing will be like the illustrations?
Um, I want one. In green, please.

ReplyDeleteForwarded this to aforementioned mother, and she said "when it's right, it's right." Thanks for making her feel stylish!

ReplyDeleteUm - did you see the section of Caftans?!
ReplyDeletenot the sexiest. or is it just the drawings?
DeleteAgreed, though suspect the fuchsia floral one could have potential, the drawing makes it hard to tell...
DeleteI seriously thought this was just a Seinfeld thing and not an actual store! Drooling over everything! Hello Counterfeit Mailbag!
ReplyDeleteOh dear god. They have an entire section dedicated to English pub signs. This is clearly the best site ever...
